Communication and Legitimacy in and of Collaborative Spaces:

Promises and Paradoxes of New Workplaces

This will be an opportunity to critically explore the promises of these places and the broader collaborative economy. Why is this idea of ‘community’ so important? Do people really share anything? What is the relationship between the development of the collaborative and sharing economy and contemporary crises? The real estate market and coworking spaces? The emergence of fab labs and maker spaces? Loneliness and liquidity in our societies? This afternoon’s discussion will be coordinated by Magda Herchuei (UCL), Hélène Lambrix (Warwick Business School), Nathalie Mitev (King’s College London) and François-Xavier de Vaujany (université Paris-Dauphine), and will take place in the context of RGCS London Working Group.
